MISSION

The Structural Electronics Lab focuses on developing organic conductors that mimic the mechanical and physiological properties and hierarchical structures of biological systems. There are three main research areas: (1) Biomimetic electronic materials, (2) Additive manufacturing of functional polymers, and (3) Organic structural metamaterials. These biomimetic materials serve as building blocks for patient-specific, customizable biomedical devices that can detect, sense, and stimulate biomarkers. The lab is comprised of an interdisciplinary group of scientists and engineers with complimentary strength in polymer synthesis, characterization, mechanics, device fabrication, and additive manufacturing.
